The National Association of Postmasters of the United States

Postmasters-Proudly Serving America

(Webmaster's Notes:  The New England Council was established many years ago as a mechanism to promote and assist Postmasters from the New England area to run for National Napus positions.  The Council was instrumental in its support for the election of National President Wally O. when he was Postmaster of Nashua New Hampshire.  The council today still meets at every national function and rotates its President among its member states.  These minutes are from the meeting which was held in March of this year at the Leadership & Legislative Conference held in Washington DC.  We look forward to the minutes of the meeting to be held during the National Convention in Albuquerque.  Please Note that in 2010, The New England Council President will be from Maine.)

The following is a letter from the New England Council President John Doon

Good day to all, If you recall from the general conversation at our last meeting in Albuquerque, we decided to have several meeting before our Leadership Conference in March. Recently, many offices are being faced with Mystery Shopper issues. Postmaster are now being subject to adverse activities by there respected districts. New tracking logs / SOP have been implemented on incoming standard flat mail, which is curtail at the carrier's case to verify that there is no first mail contained within the individual tubs. Exempted Postmaster's are being forced to break FLSA regulations, because of staffing issues and then not being able to be properly paid under the law or forced to use personal leave on a continuous bases.

A meeting has been scheduled to discuss the above issues on December 8, 2007, at the "Cat & Fiddle" in Concord, NH, which is on Manchester Street off of Route - 93. A complete set of directions can be acquired through MapQuest. The meeting will start shortly after 12:00 noon, as we look forward to having our area VP's available to take our concerns back to NAPUS Headquarters for there assistance. If you have any other concerns that need to be addressed, please email me back ASAP. If you cannot attend please also send me an email to that fact.  Please share this message with other council members that are not on my list.

I will see you in a few week,

John τΏτ
